Google has just finished another PR Update (hmmm… am really not sure if it is already finished) and I am so happy because there was an increase in the page ranks of all my blogs – yes, even the new ones – including The Pinay Blogger. From PR0, Mommy’s Infodose now has PR2 and Bloggityboop has PR 3, and from not being recognized by Google, my less than a month old PinayBlogger.info and my FoodFashionBeautyBlog.info have PR0 and not N/A.

Newbies in the blogging industry may be wondering, what PR is and so I’d figure I’d explain it here. Guys and Gals, PR is the value Google gives your site or your blog based on the quality and quantity of the links that lead to it. The PR value is only from 0 to 10, with 10 being the highest. If there are a lot of websites that have links that direct to your blog, then there is a high chance that you will get a high page ranking. However, it also depends on the quality of the link that you get. If you get links from plenty of sites with HIGH page rank and high traffic, then that will also increase your Google Page Rank. On the other hand, if you get plenty of links from N/A or banned sites, then that may pull down your page ranking.
Now, the next question is Does PageRank Matter? Some people say that it doesn’t matter anymore but there are others who say it does. The answer is actually dependent on what you intend for your blog. If you do not care about the traffic you are getting from search engines or if you have been blogging for plenty of years already and you already have a solid base of regular readers then page rank will not really matter much to you. On the other hand, page rank may be very important for those who want to earn from their blogs by accepting ads and paid-to-post opportunities.
